Grand Theft Auto

The franchise that has been on fire since 1997. Grand Theft Auto was only available on the PC and Playstation video game system. The sequel in 1999 would be Grand Theft Auto 2 which also came out on the PC, Playstation, and Sega Dreamcast.

Grand Theft Auto III came out in 2001. This game helped establish itself as a milestone in 3D graphics and an amazing storyline. Grand Theft Auto 3 was a top seller and allowed newly formed Rockstar North the ability to spend a large amount of money into development.

With very little wait for the emerging Grand Theft Auto fan base, Rockstar North released in 2002 Grand Theft Auto Vice City. This game alone sold 8 million copies which propelled it into a blockbuster title. GTA Vice City was especially cool with a Scarface and Miami Vice feel.

In 2004, Grand Theft Auto San Andreas had the same if not more success than Grand Theft Auto Vice City. The scenario in this game is following the L.A Gangs and the fight over Crack Cocaine.

In 2006, Grand Theft Auto Liberty City was released to take advantage of the hot new Playstation Portable a.k.a PSP. Theme was set back to the original New York City type city called Liberty City.

Now for 2008, Grand Theft Auto IV or 4 which will be an entire state to play in. A new type of game engine will take computer gaming to next level.
